An MBE For Dee Caffari!
18 June 2007
There was great excitement among the Sail 4 Cancer team over the weekend when one of the charity’s patrons, Dee Caffari, was named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Chair of Trustees Graham Precey commented:
“We at Sail 4 Cancer are thrilled that Dee was named in Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours List on Saturday and is to receive the MBE in recognition of her incredible sailing achievements. We are already very proud to have her as our patron and we are delighted that she is now to be acknowledged with this exceptional award. Congratulations Dee!”
Currently looking forward to the JP Morgan Round the Island Race next weekend, Dee had this to say:
“I am delighted and stunned to have been granted this honour and am greatly looking forward to visiting the Palace later this year to collect my award from Her Majesty The Queen. We have a great sailing heritage here in the UK and I am very proud to have been able to play my part in carrying this forward by setting the record as the first woman to sail solo non-stop around the world against the prevailing winds and currents. I hope I have inspired others to seize every opportunity and achieve their personal goals. “
